PAVILIONS & LAYOUT

Fira Barcelona Gran Via is arranged as four pairs of halls, each pair connected by internal passages, with all eight halls linked by a continuous weather-controlled upper walkway running the full length of the site. The layout is linear and highly legible, with three independent entrances serving different sections of the complex.

South Entrance (Entrada Sud) — the primary public entrance, featuring the acclaimed Nuclo restaurant, the main foyer, and direct access to the Convention Centre in Hall 8. This is the recommended arrival point for most visitors and exhibitors.

North Entrance (Entrada Nord) — the secondary public entrance at the opposite end of the complex, serving Halls 1 and 2. Particularly convenient for exhibitors arriving from the airport or L9 metro.

East Entrance (Entrada Est) — the logistics and exhibitor services entrance, used for heavy goods access, stand construction, and freight during set-up and break-down periods.

Halls 1–8: Each hall ranges from approximately 22,000 to 45,000 m². Halls 2 and 3 are the largest in the complex. All halls are column-free and designed for flexible configuration, accommodating anything from single large-scale fairs to multiple concurrent events.

Hall 8 — Convention Centre: A fully modular congress space accommodating 3,000 to 12,000 people. Used for keynotes, plenary sessions, and large-scale congresses running alongside trade fairs.

Practical notes for exhibitors:

  • The upper walkway connects all eight halls without going outdoors; allow 10–15 minutes end to end
  • Each hall has its own ground-level access for freight and exhibitor vehicles
  • Conference rooms are available within most individual halls in addition to the main Convention Centre

FAQ

How far is Fira Barcelona Gran Via from Barcelona city centre?
Fira Barcelona Gran Via is located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, approximately 5–7 km southwest of Barcelona city centre. By metro (Lines L8 or L9 to Europa/Fira), the journey from central Barcelona takes 15–20 minutes. By taxi or VTC, expect 15–25 minutes depending on traffic. The venue is roughly equidistant between Barcelona city centre and El Prat Airport, making it convenient for both city-based and airport-adjacent accommodation.

Which is the closest metro station to Fira Barcelona Gran Via?
There are two dedicated metro stations serving the venue. Europa/Fira (Lines L8 and L9) is located at the South Entrance and is the most commonly used by exhibitors and visitors. Fira (Line L9) is located at the North Entrance. Both stations are directly connected to Barcelona city centre and to El Prat Airport via the L9 line, making Fira Gran Via one of the best-connected large exhibition venues in Europe.

How early should I book hotels for MWC Barcelona?
MWC Barcelona (Mobile World Congress) is consistently the most hotel-intensive event in the entire Barcelona calendar, attracting over 100,000 registered attendees. Hotels across the entire city — not just those near the venue — fill within weeks of the event being confirmed, typically 4–6 months in advance. For MWC, we recommend contacting us as soon as dates are announced, ideally in September–October for a late February or early March event. Waiting until January will severely limit your options.

What hotels are near Fira Barcelona Gran Via?
The immediately surrounding area (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Gran Via business district) contains several hotels within walking distance, including properties from the Meliá, NH, and Ibis groups clustered around Plaza Europa. A wider range of options is available throughout Barcelona, all with direct metro access to the venue via L8 or L9. During major fairs such as MWC, ISE, or Alimentaria, demand extends across the entire city and into the airport hotel cluster. We maintain a curated portfolio updated for each major fair — contact us for real availability and group rates.

What are the main trade fairs held at Fira Barcelona Gran Via?
Gran Via hosts some of the world’s most significant B2B trade fairs. Key recurring events include: MWC Barcelona (mobile and technology, February/March), ISE — Integrated Systems Europe (audiovisual and systems integration, February), Alimentaria + Hostelco (food, beverage and hospitality, March/April, even years), Smart City Expo World Congress (urban innovation, November), Seafood Expo Global (seafood industry, April), Vitafoods Europe (nutraceuticals, May), ibtm world (MICE industry, November), and Expoquimia / Equiplast (chemicals and plastics, alternate years). A full calendar is published at firabarcelona.com.

What is the difference between Fira Barcelona Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc?
Fira de Barcelona operates two venues. Gran Via (L’Hospitalet) is the modern, larger site opened in 2007 — 240,000 m², 8 halls, and the main venue for international mega-fairs. Fira Montjuïc is the historic venue on Montjuïc hill in central Barcelona, comprising several older pavilions and used for smaller or complementary events. Some fairs — particularly very large ones — use both venues simultaneously. Unless your event confirmation specifies Montjuïc or a specific Montjuïc pavilion, your fair is almost certainly at Gran Via.

Is parking available at Fira Barcelona Gran Via?
Yes. The venue has approximately 4,580 on-site parking spaces. During major fairs such as MWC, ISE, or Alimentaria, these fill very quickly and pre-booking via the event organiser’s portal is strongly recommended. For exhibitors who can use public transport, the L9 metro from the airport or L8/L9 from the city centre is generally faster than driving during peak event periods. EV charging points are available in designated areas.

Can exhibitor teams get group hotel rates near Fira Gran Via?
Yes. Group rates are available for bookings of 5 rooms or more at most properties in our portfolio near Fira Barcelona Gran Via. The Plaza Europa hotel cluster in L’Hospitalet and the Sants/Plaça Espanya area in Barcelona are particularly well suited to group bookings, offering good value and direct metro access to the venue. Contact us with your team size and fair dates for a tailored quote — for MWC and other peak events, early contact is essential.

What sustainability features does Fira Barcelona Gran Via have?
Fira Gran Via is one of the most sustainable large exhibition venues in Europe. Its rooftop photovoltaic installation comprises 26,000 solar panels, making it one of the largest solar roofs in the world. The venue’s design by architect Toyo Ito prioritises natural light throughout the covered walkways and congress spaces. Fira de Barcelona has committed to ongoing environmental targets including carbon neutrality goals and water reduction programmes. For exhibitors with corporate sustainability reporting requirements, these credentials are worth noting when selecting Barcelona as a trade fair destination.

Is Fira Barcelona Gran Via expanding?
Yes. A new 60,000 m² two-storey building is currently under construction, which will be linked to the existing complex via a footbridge extending the covered walkway. Once completed, the total exhibition capacity at Gran Via will increase significantly, reinforcing its position among the largest exhibition venues in Europe. The expansion is expected to accommodate growing demand from events that currently require use of both Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc simultaneously.
